To empower Muslims with knowledge and practical spirituality, fostering a strong, inclusive community rooted in the teachings of Islam and dedicated to serving the greater good of Calgary.

Our History

From the first mosques to a city-wide network of support.

1958

Muslim Council of Calgary (MCC) is founded, representing the majority of Calgary Muslims from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities[reference:3].

2001

Muslims in Calgary launches as a central hub to connect community members with mosques, services, and events.

2004

Islamic Center of South Calgary (ICSC) is established with the motto “Connecting Community to Allah Subhana-Wa’tala”[reference:4].

Today

Over 60,000 Muslims, 40+ mosques and centers, and 20+ dedicated programs working together to uplift the entire community.

Muslim Council of Calgary (MCC)

Since 1958

An elected body guiding the Muslim community, overseeing relief services, education, and social programs. Operates multiple mosques including Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre and SW Masjid[reference:5].

Emergency food, rental, utility, medication, and education support to families in crisis[reference:6]. Zakat and Sadaqa funded[reference:7].

Est. 2004, serving SE and SW Calgary. New Legacy Musallah now open. Quran Academy and youth summer camps[reference:8].

Islamic Information Society of Calgary (IISC)

3 prayer facilities, Al-Kahf Youth Centre. Empowers Muslims to be contributing members of the greater Calgary community[reference:9][reference:10].

Operates a city-wide halal food bank, serving those in need with dignity[reference:11].
